“Today is a Miraculous Day”! Dr Kent Brantly Discharged, Speaks
Both Americans who were infected with the deadly Ebola Virus and later treated, have been discharged from the hospital
At a news conference in Atlanta with the staff of the Emory University Hospital,Dr. Kent Brantly said, “Today is a miraculous day. I am thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family.”
If you recall, BN told you that he will be discharged today.
The other patient Nancy Writebol, was actually released on Tuesday and is choosing not to make public comments.
Dr. Bruce Ribner, the director of Emory’s Infectious Disease Unit, said “We are tremendously pleased with Dr. Brantly and Mrs. Writebol’s recovery.”
He also said they pose no public health risk.
“What we learned in caring for them will help advance the world’s understanding of how to treat Ebola infections and help, hopefully, to improve survival” in other parts of the world.
“There may be some recovery time because this is a fairly devastating disease,” but in general patients without organ damage are expected to “make a complete recovery,” he added.
