UCH Ibadan Doctors Successfully Operate on Youngest Ever Cardiac Patient in Nigeria
The University College Hospital Ibadan, Oyo achieved a great feat.
Doctors at the teaching hospital had a
successful heart surgery on a seven month old baby, the youngest ever
cardiac patient ever operated in any public health facility in Nigeria.
The surgery was performed with experts from America, Canada and India. The girl Enriola who weighed 3.8kg could not grow the natural pace because of the hole in her. Her mother Olubunmi Fakoya said she was diagnosed at three months old and since then Enriola has been living in and out of the hospital
Head of Cardiology, Kamar Adeleke
(Head, Tri-State Cardiovascular Institute, Delaware, USA), revealed
that it was a delicate surgery as Enriola had emaciated so much, her
chances were very slim.
Two hours after the surgery, the happy mother shared with Channels TV the positive changes and improvement.
