Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie profiled by NY Times as a New Wave African Writer
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been profiled by the New York Times as one of the New Wave African Writers With an Internationalist Bent.
The Nigerian author has written widely acclaimed novels including Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun and most recently Americanah.
In the profile, it is revealed that
while Chimamanda was struggling to get her first novel – Purple Hibiscus
published, she was told by an agent things would have been easier “if
only you were Indian” because they were in vogue at that time.
Felicia R. Lee of the NY Times details in the profile, her numerous awards, dividing time between the United States and Nigeria, featuring in BeyoncĂ©‘s song Flawless, and Half of a Yellow Sun the movie.
