Ivory Coast President Promises to Double Team’s World Cup Bonuses
Alassane Ouattar, Ivory Coast President, has promised the country’s national team that he will double their world cup bonuses if they defeat Greece.
The Elephants are scheduled to play against Greece on Tuesday. They are guaranteed a place in the the knock-out stages of the competition if they win.
Currently, the team is supposed to be paid 16 million CFA Francs (about $24,400) per player for a victory. That amount could double to 32 million CFA francs if they win against Greece, Vanguard reports.
The initiative is reportedly aimed at “giving the Elephants extra motivation to reach the knock-out rounds for the first time in their history.”
